Biography

One of Canada's most respected stage actors, Diane D'Aquila has been a member of the company at the Stratford Festival for 15 seasons appearing most recently as Ftatateeta in CAESAR AND CLEOPATRA, directed by Des McAnuff, and along side Christopher Plummer. This stage production of CAESAR AND CLEOPATRA was filmed and subsequently screened in dozens of Canadian movie theatres last year.

 

More of Ms. D’Aquila’s Stratford credits include Maria in THE TWELFTH NIGHT, Constance in KING JOHN, Cleopatra in ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA, Jocasta in OEDIPUS REX, and Goneril in KING LEAR, to name just a few. She also appeared as Mary in Soulpepper Theatre’s production of LEAVING HOME, and as Mary in OF THE FIELDS, LATELY, both directed by Ted Dykstra.

 

As powerful and convincing in front of the camera as she is on stage, Ms. D’Aquila won both an ACTRA Award and a Gemini Award in 2004 for her performance as Elizabeth I in the television adaptation of Timothy Findley’s play ELIZABETH REX.

 

Other notable film and television work includes roles in the films NOTRE DAME DE GRACE, starring Jay Baruchel and Scott Speedman, MARRIED TO IT starring Beau Bridges and Stockard Channing, and a recurring role as the Minister of Culture in the hit TV series SLINGS AND ARROWS.
